Urban Lind has worked with IP in private practice since 1995. His practice focuses on European and international patent prosecution and includes providing strategic advice and contentious work.
Urban’s work involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications, evaluation of patent rights, freedom-to-operate analyses, infringement analyses, validity analyses, etc. He also has extensive experience of opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office and the Swedish Patent Office, as well as of court proceedings in Sweden and other countries. Urban has been responsible for major due diligence projects.
Urban primarily works with electrical and computer science and biomedical engineering in fields such as telecommunications, antenna technology, database security and medical appliances. Over the years, he has also worked in numerous other technical areas, such as mechanical areas.
Urban has a good understanding of the needs of clients and the importance of practical advice. He is analytical and creative and always delivers to a high standard. Urban has been recognized as one of the world’s leading IP practitioners by IAM (IAM 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals) and Managing Intellectual Property (MIP IP Stars) for several consecutive years.
Urban’s clients range from small start-up companies to large international corporations. For the smaller, domestic clients, Urban will typically serve as their strategic IP advisor to help them improve their business with the support of IP. But he will also be directly involved in drafting their patent applications and prosecuting these applications internationally.
For international clients, Urban is an appreciated expert on European patent prosecution. The international clients include IP law firms outside Europe and companies with sizeable European patent portfolios.
Urban has held numerous lectures in the US and Sweden on various topics related to IP, particularly European patent practice.
