Biography

Peter is trusted with some of the toughest IP disputes in Sweden and beyond. He has pursued and defended patent cases across a wide range of technologies, before Swedish courts, in cross-border litigation, in European Patent Office oppositions and before the Court of Justice of the European Union. His cases have spanned patent infringement and invalidity, but also designs, trade marks, marketing law, and commercial disputes.

When a case is complex, Peter thrives. He digs into the science and technology, uncovering both the risks and the opportunities, and is relentless in getting to the heart of the matter. He enjoys the research and the deep dive into each case, and he takes pride in running much of the work himself rather than simply delegating to a team. Clients value his ability to manage big and small cases alike in a cost-effective way. He has often stood with smaller companies against much larger opponents.

Peter’s work is not limited to litigation. He is also known for structuring deals where technology and IP are at the core. He drafts and negotiates licences, manufacturing and distribution agreements, and R&D collaborations. He helps clients navigate the IP aspects of transactions so that their technology serves their commercial goals.

Start-ups, innovators and entrepreneurs regularly turn to him. Peter has guided many of them through the complexities of IP rights, showing how patents, designs and trade marks can be used not only for protection but as tools to build and strengthen their businesses.

• Representing a world-leading developer and manufacturer of household appliances in patent infringement and invalidity proceedings before the Patent and Market Court and the Patent and Market Appeals Court, concerning cross-border infringement spanning ten European jurisdictions, constituting a continuation at national level of the legal issues addressed by the Court of Justice of the European Union in BSH Hausgeräte GmbH v Electrolux AB (C-339/22).
• Representing a producer of generic medicines in infringement and invalidity proceedings before the Patent and Market Court relating to an anticoagulant drug for the treatment and prevention of blood clots.
• Representing a world-leading producer of generic medicines in invalidity proceedings before the Patent and Market Court relating to an SPC on a CNS stimulant widely used in the treatment of ADHD.
• Represented a world-leading producer of generic medicines in invalidity proceedings before the Patent and Market Appeals Court relating to a patent and SPC on a blockbuster anticoagulant drug for the treatment and prevention of blood clots.
• Represented a Swedish innovator and producer of infrared detectors in entitlement proceedings relating to patents and patent applications on sensor technology before the Patent and Market Court and the Patent and Market Appeals Court, as well as the CJEU regarding interpretation of relevant EU law.
• Represented a developer and manufacturer of outdoor and recreational equipment in patent infringement and invalidity proceedings before the Patent and Market Court.
• Represented a Swedish innovator of diagnostic kits and solutions for advanced DNA testing in patent infringement proceedings before the Patent and Market Court relating to genetic diagnostics (prenatal tests and diagnosis of chromosomal disorders).
• Represented a world-leading developer of animal healthcare products in patent infringement and invalidity proceedings before the Patent and Market Court relating to veterinary medicines.
• Represented a major original pharmaceutical drug producer in Supplementary Protection Certificate proceedings before the Patent and Market Appeals Court and in a referral to the CJEU regarding interpretation of EU law.
